Our "True" micas are all cosmetic-grade, bright-hued, low-sheen micas which are a blend of FD&C dyes and a mica substrate.
The colors have been specially manufactured to be "hydrophobic", which means that they resist water.

I have nothing but great things to say, so it'd be kind of tedious for both of us if I listed everything I liked, huh? In brief, I can't think of a better starter kit for micas. Don't forget to add your appropriately water- or oil-soluble titanium dioxide as well as a brown or black oxide, depending on preference!
So I'll just note where two of my preferences differ, considering an ideal kit:
1. Differing strengths (as far as intensity or amount of dye applied) makes it a bit harder to work with for someone like me, who is new to micas and dyes, but not new to art in general.
2. Both reds lean warm, although it's hard to tell viewing the photo (for me, one looks fairly neutral, one looks a bit cool). The only downside to this is that I planned on making a lot of browns. It's not as easy/you have to augment with the tiniest amount of a third to balance.
3. Unexpected third, sorry, but they're pretty unpredictable with water, so let me give you a heads up.
Blue and green go into solution well, and red/orange does so even better. Yellow is fairly weak, comparatively speaking, and blue is pretty average (which, with this kit, is very powerful).
I am disappointed the red/orange is not approved for the eyes it was the main reason I bought this collection then realize afterwards it wasn't. I like the other colors but really wanted that red/orange.
I absolutely LOVE the "trues". I'm not a big fan of sparkle, so I use these to make other colours alot. Get them, you'll be happy you did!
