Galaxy Holographic Glitters 0.004 Square Cut
A variety of lovely color-shifting, solvent-resistant, holographic glitters!

  • Ingredients: Polyethylene Terephalate, Aluminum, Polyurethane 33, Pigment.  Please see the FAQ tab for permitted use disclaimer.
  • The US FDA has determined that glitter is a color additive which is not listed on their list of approved color additives. This means that a glitter product is not allowed for use in any cosmetic in the USA. Consumers have expressed confusion over this, as it is obvious that there is glitter in all kinds of cosmetics sold currently in the USA and there are no known reports of harm caused by glitter.

The FDA has not explained itself to our company, but it has advised us that it recognizes that the cosmetics industry has been largely unaware of this determination and it is essentially providing the cosmetic industry a grace period during which FDA enforcement is "discretionary". This grace period allows the cosmetics industry to "respond". The FDA has not provided us with any information on how long this grace period has been in effect, nor how long it will be in effect. They simply state the the issue is "active".

  • Ok. I'm interested in making lip gloss that will sparkle to the heavens, lol, are these glitters good that or no? Could you recommend good glitters & ones good for tints & pigment? Thank you!!!!

Those glitters are really lovely, but they are made for nail polish (they are solvent resistant) from pigments which the FDA does not permit for use in cosmetics, so I vote "no" on your plan.

You might consider instead any of our "Microfine Glitters" (put that term into our search box).  These are polyester glitters as well.  Polyester glitters are technically not permitted by the FDA for use in cosmetics, however our Microfine Glitters are made from FDA permitted color additives and so some formulators feel that this meets the intent of the FDA if not the letter of the law.

100% FDA permitted cosmetic powders made from borosilicate (glass) are another good option for you.  Consider our Reflecks, Star Bites or Sparks collections.
