Mo' Betta is a nice medium shade brown glitter with hot silvery red, almost pink gleams interspersed.

  • Ingredients: Polyethylene Terephalate, Aluminum, Polyurethane 33, Pigment. Recommended for use in nail polish.  Please see the FAQ's for permitted use disclaimer.
  • The US FDA has determined that glitter is a color additive which is not listed on their list of approved color additives. This means that a glitter product is not allowed for use in any cosmetic in the USA. Consumers have expressed confusion over this, as it is obvious that there is glitter in all kinds of cosmetics sold currently in the USA and there are no known reports of harm caused by glitter.

The FDA has not explained itself to our company, but it has advised us that it recognizes that the cosmetics industry has been largely unaware of this determination and it is essentially providing the cosmetic industry a grace period during which FDA enforcement is "discretionary". This grace period allows the cosmetics industry to "respond". The FDA has not provided us with any information on how long this grace period has been in effect, nor how long it will be in effect. They simply state the the issue is "active".

Questions & Answers

Ask a Question
  • Is this safe to use for lips?

It is not permitted by the FDA for use in cosmetics in part because it is not made from FDA permitted colors.  Consider instead our Brass Glitter, Microfine or Copper Glitter, Microfine, both of which are made from FDA permitted colors.  They are also microfine and do not feel gritty on the lips.

Our Mo' Better Brown is a polyester glitter is "solvent resistant" which makes it good for use in Nail Polish.

  • I have a question about the mo betta glitter, i wished to use it in a lipgloss along with the Swiss chocolate mica but because of the warning does it mean it's completely unsafe in lip products? it's the only glitter you have that compliments the Swiss chocolate color.

The particle size of the product is considered safe for use.  Customers may choose to use the product for lip or eye use, however they should first understand the FAQ about glitter in cosmetics, please read here: https://howtomakecosmetics.com/pages/using-glitter-in-cosmetics
