This high performance chemical is added to cosmetic formulations to provide both transfer and wash resistance. Because the film it provides is flexible, it is often used in making matte liquid lipsticks and sunscreens.
To use it, you must first dissolve it into a solvent/carrier such as isododecane.

How much do you recommend using when dissolving it with isododecane?
9 grams of Flake Resin to 27 grams of Isododecane.
How large is the sample size?
1 Tablespoon, about 4-6 grams.
Hello TKB I use 12 grams of dissolved isododecane fluid with 5 grams of silicone resin. Is that ok? Let me know more?
I'm not sure what the silicone resin you are referring to. TKB's Flake Resin? If you are trying to make a liquid lipstick, consider reading at our quickstart page here:
What's the weight for a sample size of Flake Resin? Do the samples come in grams or ounces?
It is 1 tablespoon, which is approximately 6 grams. But we sell by the volume.
What's the best way to dissolve flame resin?
I recommend you let it sit overnight in a covered container with isododecane. You can also heat it gently with the isododecane but please don't use a microwave, use a double boiler.
How would I use this if I'm adding it to lip gloss ?
To make sure you get the best film forming properties, you use dissolve into a volatile carrier oil. Both organic and silicone oils could be used and you can blend up to a concentration of 50% flake resin to oil. Recommended oils include: ethanol, isopropyl esters, fractionated coconut oil, Alkyl Benzoate, Isododecane, Isohexadecane, Centapentasiloxane. How long it takes to dissolve depends on the oil.
The best way to add is with some mixing otherwise, the flakes will tend to clump in the bowl at the bottom, making it harder for them to dissolve. If your carrier can handle it, you can add heat - up to 70 degrees C - to make it dissolve faster.
Use in Sunscreens is around 3-5%, in Matte Liquid Lipsticks around 15 - 20%.
